Random Freezing with any program

Asked by Russel Griffin JR

Ok I'm really not good with Ubuntu 10.10 for desktop running on a netbook and I don't know if I'm bringing up old news but my computer keeps freezing after a period of time no matter what I'm doing. The version may not be fully compatible but it has been working for awhile till after I installed WINE and then uninstalled it. It was freezing a little bit but not like now. I'm really not good with the terminal but if you can make things really easy please help if you can my email is russel _ griffin @ hotmail. com

Unfortunately, there are lot of reasons for freezing.
Some are hardware reasons:
spurious RAM: at boot, choose in Grub menu Memtest86
overheating: install lmsensors to check temperature and voltage
Some are software reasons:
try with a previous kernel, at boot (third line)
check if freeze open when only system software run

Can you help with this problem?
