Ok reboot and login with the camera disconnected. Then when the OS has settled, connect the device and wait 10 seconds, then run:

dmesg | tail -n 25; lsusb

I assume the device uses USB connectivity, please say if it doesn't

Looks like if you change its mopde to 'PTP' it will work with gphoto2
