RAM supported in UBUNTU linux 10.04

I'm having a RAM of 4 GB in my laptop but Ubuntu linux is only showing me 2.9 GB of ram. Please let me know how much of RAM is supported in this version of linux.

You have most likely installed the 32 bit version and only 4GB total (graphics, system and RAM) memory is usable. Suggest you install 64 bit version.
