No, apparently the one in #3 doesn't work as Martin tried it on my machine using SSH.
I'm talking about the workaround in #7:
"The workaround of disabling udisks-probe-ata-smart in /lib/udev/rules.d/80-udisks.rules"

That one I recently reapplied.
