I seem to be experiencing the same bug (ATI based acer aspire 7540G). After resume, the notebook seems to be functional, but the screen remains black.

I was able to log into it via SSH though, and noticed in top, that Xorg was consuming 100% of one of my CPU-cores. This may indicate that Xorg is really the problem.
