I'm getting the same symptoms as this bug in precise with 304 series drivers and a GTX 680 - on a desktop, not a laptop.

$ uname -a
Linux fatherboard 3.2.0-29-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:03:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Please reopen.

Xubuntu 12.04, dimmed every suspend, have to kill xorg (Relog) to regain proper brightness.
