IBM X41 thinkpad, ubuntu maverick meerkat default (ATI ?) drivers.

Happens RARELY, maybe 1/50 of all resume from standby operations.

Still - the only "workaround" I know of: squint and make out what's going on to close and save and shut down cleanly; reboot.
