I've tested linux-image-2.6.27-8-generic same result i got with linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic.

Also i have tested 2.6.28-rc4 , that worked as 2.6.28-rc3.

Attached boot messages for 2.6.24-1 and 2.6.28-rc4, so looks that since 2.6.28-rc3 sata_nv with Nforce
controller was fixed ( i would say rather regression fix ). Problem appeared in 2.6.26 , not sure if also in 2.6.25
