Hi, Stefan. Thanks for your efforts. I meant to do some more work over
the weekend, but had to deal with an urgent problem instead. Luckily you
built a new kernel during my period of silence.

I installed your new linux-image (smb2), booted it and set
net.ipv4.tcp_frto=2. I am sorry to report that the print job hung, so
your new set of fixes are not sufficient to back-port the bug fix from
intrepid.

Unfortunately, the kernel booted in low-res graphics mode (only option)
and so I couldn't get wireshark to capture the tcp session (panels would
not resize or move to let me click the save button!). This means I
cannot say whether the low-level symptoms have changed... but I am sure
the printer hangs!
