I would like to point out that it was working properly with previous Ubuntu releases.
I tweaked BIOS settings testing AHCI mode and SATA mode without success.

One more question, maybe It's a bit off-topic, I just tested unofficial kernel taken from here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.11-utopic/

I installed and booted version 3.14.11-031411-generic_3.14.11-031411.201407062254_amd64
and noticed a different message during boot:

ata4.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x40)
