Subject: alpha kernel testing

I've got about 3 distinct types of alphas I can test this out on. The
general method I use for booting etc. actually circumvents the
installation kernels so I've never actually seen it in action before.

I need to take care of the general i386 situation before this and I
should probably recruit helpers for cvs-specific issues at this point.
