What is the difference between nvidia-glx-new and nvidia-glx-new-envy?

Asked by Felipe Figueiredo

AFAICT, the package descriptions between the nvidia-glx-new and nvidia-glx-new-envy are exactly the same. I looked both in my system and in packages.u.c. Even the driver version seem to be the same (both have the latest from nvidia's site).

So, what's the difference between them?

Hello Felipe,

The *-envy packages are made to be installed and configured by the envy application (envyng-qt or envyng-gtk) whereas the other package (here nvidia-glx-new) is made to be installed and configured by you or the jockey application (Hardware drivers in the System > Administration).

Hope that it helps you.
