Looking for a 4.15 kernel or greater for Ubuntu Mate of a RPI 3B

Asked by John Laughton

I need to compile (and patch) a 4.15 kernel or greater for use on a Raspberry Pi 3B
I tried linux-image-4.15.0-041500rc1-generic_4.15.0-041500rc1.201711262030_armhf.deb, but it failed with "Unsupported Platform" ?
Will linux-raspi2 package work with Ubuntu Mate 16.04 for RPi 3B ?

Should do it. Why do you need the newer kernel?

Could upgrade to Bionic. LTS to LTS upgrades are supported

Andrew,
I am trying to duplicate some work done by someone else, and they have a patch for the CEC driver, but on a 4.15 kernel

I did not install Bionic, because at the time I started this work, I do not think Ubuntu Mate existed on 18.04
I will go back and double check

I am a bit confused, Mate 16.04 is a 32 bit OS, would I not required a 32 bit kernel ?

Can you help with this problem?
