Are patches accepted for updating linux-ports-meta ?

Asked by jayseye

Bug #586385 may now block a security-related kernel update, as I pointed out in a Comment there. Updating this meta-package might be straightforward, as the dependencies appear up-to-date.

Would submitting a patch help to expedite this task?

The bug is still marked New, Undecided and Unassigned after several months, along with 40 other bugs for this package. Is communication flowing effectively between Ubuntu and the powerpc community? Do the Ubuntu Kernel Team and the PowerPC Architecture Team coordinate on issues such as this?

Thanks,
jayseye

Ubuntu 6.10 was the last officially supported version of Ubuntu for PowerPC.

I'm not aware of how the PPC community is handling these issues, it may be worthwhile to determine where this goes as I can see the bug possibly being marked invalid.

Can you help with this problem?
