why does linux-image-generic depend on thermald?

Asked by ben thielsen

i've just upgraded to 14.10, and i see that linux-image-generic now lists thermald as a dependency. is this really a genuine requirement now, that without which a computer cannot be used?

I suggest you report a bug if you suspect that this is superfluous.

Ben
Check this site.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagement/ThermalIssues

The site says thermald is on 14.04.

If you find this dependency unnecessary I would suggest too, to report a bug and speak with the Ubuntu Kernel maintainers.

But first have a read here about Thermal Daemon:

https://01.org/linux-thermal-daemon/documentation/introduction-thermal-daemon

Can you help with this problem?
