Async IO Support

Is there any problem why Async IO hasn't been compiled as a feature in this packages ? Performance improvements are great, and should be a possibility given to sysadmins.
libaio1 is available on ubuntu systems and feature can be enable with just a compile flag like --with-linux-aio
