In lightdm i can see the DE list but i cannot select Desktop Environment from it?

Asked by Pingerman

I have ubuntu 12.10. And I want to switch the Desktop Environment. For example, in XFCE.
1) Run Terminal and execute:
sudo apt-get install kde-full e17 xfce4 gnome lxde
2) Log Out from Unity
3) Try change Desktop Environment

Is there a question here? What do you want to do?

Let us know

1. Which version of Ubuntu you have

and

2. What your current desktop environment is and what you want it to be.

There are lots of us here who can give you the commands you need.

There is no way to confirm the choice. Since there is no scroll.

There is an open bug (error) about what you want to do with LightDM in 12.10.

See here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1070526

Is not confirmed yet , but you can participate if you want , if this bug affects you.

Try to install gdm

~$ sudo apt-get install gdm

and select gdm as display manager instead of lightdm , reboot and...

...then select the desktop environment you want and login.

Thanks

Just click with the mouse, or is there no mouse pointer?
