11.10 GUI´s gone from LigthDM

Asked by kevin vargas

Upgraded to 11.10 and everything well. Had the option of login into Ubuntu, Ubuntu 2D, KDE Plasma and I think GNOME. Then after a reboot the only option that I have is KDE, no other option is available at login.

Fixed by doing:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

Seems the problem was caused by the removal of files for iphone (libimobiledevice2 ect) which appears to have erased all files from /usr/share/xsessions except the one for kde and thus the option to select other desktop GUIs in lightdm.

Not positive this is the cause but happened twice to me and that is the repeating factor.
