start up screen error

Asked by Jesus Rosas

I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 at a laptop Acer Aspire 5250-B2889. The installation ran fine, but after reboot gets stuck on the startup screen (where I asked my username and password). I installed the system on 2 occasions, but I get the same result. I went into "recovery mode" and I noticed broken packages, is still not resolved. I am sure that the installation files are correct, that I installed on a Compaq and everything works 100%.
 I would appreciate your help,
 regards

I cant write my password, when the start up screen appears it get freeze. I can't move the mouse or write my password.
No error message appears, and nothing else happens.. I wait several minutes but nothing happens.
I suspect that something is wrong with the video, but I can't get into ubuntu to fix it

When you say it gets stuck at login screen (startup screen), what do you mean? Do you mean that you are able to select your username and enter your password, but you get an error message when you log in? Or do you mean that you are able to specify your username and password, and then it looks like you are being logged in but then something goes wrong? Or do you mean you are not able to enter your username and password at all? Or something else?

Please provide as many details as possible. If there are error messages, please supply their full and exact text.

Nothing happen, the screen is completely frozen.
Now that I remember the only time that I could get into ubuntu (first time).
A video messenge show up, saying that more drivers were needed in order to video hardware works propertly.
But when it start to download, it couldn't intall it.
I'm thinking on reinstall ubuntu to write to you the error message

I found the answer in this webpage:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne522

WARNING: NetBoot has to come first in the boot order specified by the BIOS; the live USB disk with Ubuntu must be the second in the boot order. You can make these changes in the BIOS by pressing the F2 key at boot then setting the order.
Failure to set NetBoot as the first device to boot may result in all kinds of crazy stuff starts to happen, namely Ubuntu frozen login screens.
