lightdm restart problem

i have just installed Ubuntu 11.10 32 bit version on my Lenovo Thinkpad T410 64 bit laptop and my kernel version is 3.0.0-12-generic-pae and NVIDIA Driver Version:285.05.09.

Unfortunately my lightdm restarts frequently without notice, specially i noticed it while i'm going to read offline messages of skype.

Do you have any suggestion or if you need any other information, please let me know.

Can you give the output of:

dpkg -l | grep nvidia

ii nvidia-settings 285.05.09-0ubuntu1~oneiric~xup1 Tool of configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver
ii nvidia-settings-updates 280.13-0ubuntu1 Tool of configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver

Thanks 'andrew-woodhead666', the exact point of error.
I have removed older nvidida driver installed and it works fine.

I used below PPA and commands for nvidia driver installation:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
