hi dear actionparsnip,..i have builded the package as have you suggested with chekinstall and with this howTO,
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompilingEasyHowTo
now the package is installed and saved..
but i cannot understand:
1) the old package is actually installed...
2) i cannot remove because synaptic wants to remove all other software like vlc audaciopus and many more..

wich is the next correct step before trying to use??

thanks for your suggestion i really appreciate...and i learned one other thing...

Can you help with this problem?
