Libre Office 24.2.3.2 has locked up and files are inaccessible

Asked by bwallum

I recently upgraded to LibreOffice suite 24.2. It initially worked then got slower and slower. I now cannot access my files.

I have tried to row back to ver 7.. but found that I cannot delete 24.2 using Ubuntu Software install/uninstall tool and version 7.. does not appear to be available.

Have I been hacked or is this a known issue?

For diagnostic purposes please provide the output that you receive for the following commands (to be executed in a terminal window):

I have restored access to my files by uninstalling and reinstalling the applications (Calc, Writer etc) of LibreOffice individually.

Fingers crossed, this will 'fix' the access issue but I have no idea why I'm afraid.

My PC is AMD 64 on an Asus motherboard and previously been running for several years. No other application is affected. All drives boot as clean.

I do not see any trace of Libre Office 24.2.3.2, so I assume that it must have been installed from a foreign source. Ubuntu can hardly help with foreign software.

Do you still see a problem here, or is it possible to close this question?

Thanks for your assistance with this.

I have managed to get back to version 7.3.7.2 now. I will tag with 'Problem Solved' and wait until invited to upgrade to LTS 24.04 to hopefully clear up any mess made.
