Libreoffice V6 locked files

Asked by ealthuis

Just installed version 6 on a computer I use as a file server using NFS. Now a spreadsheet in common use cannot be edited on another computer by the same user (the owner)

The controling script has been edited to NOT lock files. but it still does.

Downloaded, then extracted to "Extracts, there CD to Libreoffice.. and then to Debs and installed with "sudo dpkg -i *.deb

The output that you provided is contradictory.

Response #9 shows libreoffice-core 1:5.4.2-0ubuntu0.17.10.1
Response #11 shows libreoffice-core not installed, but 1:5.4.4~rc2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1~lo1 (from a PPA) als installation candidate
You talk about version 6

This does not fit together.
It seems that you are mixing output from three different systems - seanix, azura and ealaptop.

Which one does have the problem?

In fact the problem exists on all three, however azura is still 5.4.4, the others plus the server (Discovery) have 6.0
Discovery is a regular desk top, with Network File System installed, it thus works as the server. The other three have NFS common installed and can access Discovery directly, the files as they are on Discovery show in /media on the other computers and are used from there.

The problem is universal, a fix existed by commenting out two lines in /usr/bin/soffice, but that does not help any more.

After extensive research I have found that the problem above is definitely in only LibreOffice 6, and not 5.4.4.

I will redo the above questions on this computer:

Where did you download LibreOffice 6?
This is no Ubuntu package ans we cannot help.
Please contact the support of the source where you got that version.

The Document Foundation has LO 6 availble, that is where I downloaded it from.
I also have a question in with the LO community, but no answer so I finally entered the problem as a bug and so far no resolution. It is not a major problem but more a nuisance as I can make any updates to the spreadsheets on the server itself. So once again thank you for your help
