LibreOffice error message creating new document from template

When clicking on File, New, Templates and Docments generates an error message that says error creating document /home/steve/documents/documents

I have deleted the config directory for libreoffice in /home/.config/libreoffice and rebooted the machine and I still get the same message.

I am assuming this maybe a bug. Can anyone else confirm this?

It is empty. This is not where libreoffice is storing templates though. I really think this is a bug. I just want to find out if anyone else can reproduce the problem. Ubuntu 12.04
