Unable to type Rupee sign

Asked by Salman Faris

I've added English(India) to my Keyboard Layout settings, which contains the Indian currency {Rupee} sign.

The Rupee sign is given on Keyboard Layout Chart, where the "$" and "4" are.

While preparing documents I'm unable to procure the sign into it.

How am I supposed to get the sign into my documents whilst typing them....?

Please help.......!

You can copy and paste that as an interim fix. Did you set the default currency to Rupees in LibreOffice options? Apps have settings like that which you may need to tweak

To generate the new Indian Rupee sign ₹, press Ctrl-Shift-u, then key in 20B9 and press Enter (or Return)

To generate the old Rupee sign ₨ which is still used in other countries, press Ctrl-Shift-u, then key in 20A8 and press Enter (or Return).

This method will generate the Rupee signs in most applications, not just LibreOffice.

If you cannot get your keyboard to generate the character, and the above method is too cumbersome, one trick it to use the Autocorrect feature (Tools > Autocorrect Options...) to generate it in the same way that ( + c + ) generates ©. This method is, of course, restricted to LibreOffice.

Hope that helps

Tony
