libre office writer form design

I am using Libre Office 3.5.2.2.
I cannot open OpenOffice Files that contain formular elements, nor can I use formular elements in LibreOffice.
In particular the control filed .. context menu cannot be opened.

Unfortunately I also cannot install the old openoffice in tandem with libre office.

Can anyone help?

Oh, I see I used the wrong wording. What I meant was form elements. It is not possible to create or open documents conatining form elements like edit fields.

I will try to ask my question at libre office. Thank you for the pointer.
