Get rid of highlighting

I'm editing a document in open office w p where the writer has highlighted with yellow background the parts he has changed. When I have checked the changes how can I get rid of the highlighting? The document is a .doc saved as a Word (Windows XP) document.

Edit->Changes->Accept or reject->Accept all
