LibreOffice 3 Writer, Calc, and Impress will not open

Asked by Geoffrey Logan Crookston

When i click on one of the three mentioned LibreOffice 3 programs, the first initial screen comes up like it is going to start up... but then after a minute or two it goes away and nothing. Same thing happens when i try to open a saved file. I did some updates last night(268 to be exact) and it was working fine before those, but still does not make sense as to why they wont work now. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Geoffrey

Can you tell us what version of Ubuntu you are using?

Was LibreOffice installed by it? That happens when install 11.04 or you upgrade 10.10 to 11.04. Please tell us which you did.

Tony

librenathan@nathan-laptop:~$ libreoffice
Bus error
nathan@nathan-laptop:~$

This is from Ubuntu 11.10, and LibreOffice worked before I upgraded late last night. I've un-installed and re-installed to no avail.

Same problem here. I just did a fresh install of Kubu 11.10 on my Asus 1015 pem 2gb ram 320hhd dual core, 1.5ghz (graphic chip .. Intel.. maybe..can't be sure) and reported the following faults:
- SystemSettings after two days of smooth run can't be open got following error in T:

alan326@alan326-1015PEM:~$ systemsettings
systemsettings(2346): Communication problem with "systemsettings" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "

- Libre office opens when it wants. I get this in Terminal:

alan326@alan326-1015PEM:~$ libreoffice
Bus error
alan326@alan326-1015PEM:~$

- Also pressing CTRL + ALT + T doesn't open T with my 11.10.

Any thought?

Just for your information. I have both a HP-Pavilion and an Asus 1015PEM 2gB and both run LibreOffice without any problems

Same problem here with Ubuntu 11.10 32 bit up to date.
Was able to work with writer yesterday, but today all I get is a "bus error".

Can you help with this problem?
