won't print from LibreCalc

Asked by William Booker

My Samsung laser printer was recognised the moment I switched it on, but my main printer (Canon iP4850) refuses to print from anything. I did manage to print a test page from the iP4850 (goodness knows how I managed that) but have not been able to print from any program. I am brand new to Ubuntu 11.04 so help would be appreciated. Must say though I'm liking what I see.
Cheers
William

Yes, and I double-clicked and installed it.

did you install the "common" file first before the "i4800series" file? it really shouldn't matter, but canon recommend that you install the "common" file first.

also, when you prnt the file, did you choose the canon as the printer to print from?

Not sure which order they were installed. Can they be re-installed in that order?
CanaoniP4850 was selected.

OK, this has been ticking along for a while now.
I uninstalled those 2 files and re-installed them in the order you suggested. Still no print from the iP4850. My other printer works fine, but that's only mono

Now you have been through the driver installation, have you installed the printer using those drivers.

Go to Printing (search for it in the Dash), delete the printer and set it up again making sure that you select the i4800 series driver.
