embedded fonts

Asked by Bruce McCormick

I am writing a book to be published and in order to fulfill the requirements of the publisher I have to embed the fonts in the document. Can I do this in LibreOffice?

I also want to create a background/watermark and want to be able to vary the transparency. How do I do that?

Exactly what format does the publisher want? Does he want odt, doc, pdf or something else.

As far as I know, LO does not embed fonts, see

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1687710

and follow the links. Refers to OpenOffice. Maybe different for LO.

But this is a feature of PDFs.

For a watermark with transparency, you need it in a Frame (Insert > Frame) and in the Backgound tab of its Properties you can specify transparency. Also you will need to specify Wrap so text flows over the frame (Right click edge of frame, select Wrap > In Background).

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the feedback.

You may be right about the embedded fonts. Ultimately they want a PDF, so I'll have to find out how to embed the fonts when I convert my .odf to a .pdf.

Thanks also for the info on watermarks. I couldn't find any info on them in HELP, so that saved me a great deal more "nosing around" to find it.
