libreoffice math as a calculator

Asked by Bob

Ubuntu 11.04 Libreoffice 3.3.2

Can libreoffice math be set up as a simple calculator?
Such as for balancing my checkbook or simple addition and subtraction?
I can't find any Linux calculators that I like.

Thanks in advance. Bob.

the math module is used to create mathematical equations for text documents.

what you want to use instead is calc.

you can get documentations on how to use calc from the openoffice.org website, then click on the documentation link.

Can calc be used like a simple calculator? I thought it was a spread sheet.

Is openoffice.org providing documentation for libreoffice?

Thanks, Bob.

1. you can use the spreadsheet to balance whatever you want. if you don't want to use that then
2. there's a calculator available under applications>accessories>calculator

libreoffice is a "fork" in openoffice. all openoffice derivatives work the same, just that some have features and some work better in some ways than others. the docs are applicable for all, as it forms the base for all derivatives.

Thanks for you help. I am aware of Ubuntu's calculator. As I wrote in my first question:

"I can't find any Linux calculators that I like"
