Install problems; unresolved dependencies

Asked by Mike Luntz

tried to install Libre0ffice from the launchpad ppa without success due to unresolved dependencies. The addition of the ppa to software sources appeared to work, but running the command

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install libreoffice

failed due to unresolved dependencies.I also tried installing LibreOffice from the Synaptic package manager with the same result. I currently have OpenOffice installed and working and it did not get uninstalled. I assume because the install failed. I am running an AMD64 version of Ubuntu 10.04 with the 2.6.32-29 kernel.

Does anyone know how to get LibreOffice to install or how I can find out what dependencies are missing?

Also, is there any reason why there are 2 places in launchpad to get support regarding LibreOffice? Both

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice
and
https://launchpad.net/df-libreoffice

provide support. I have posted this question in both locations. If they are somehow linked and I am flooding the system I humbly apologize.

When using ppa you need to uninstall OpenOffice completely before installing LibreOffice.
e.g. (of course adjust to your language)
sudo apt-get remove openoffice.org-core openoffice.org-common
sudo apt-get remove openoffice.org-hyphenation openoffice.org-thesaurus-de
sudo apt-get remove openoffice.org-l10n-common openoffice.org-style-human ure uno-libs3
sudo apt-get remove openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-us openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-au openoffice.org-thesaurus-de-ch
sudo apt-get remove openoffice.org-hyphenation-en-us openoffice.org-hyphenation-de

Can you help with this problem?
