Podman bug

Asked by Adam Sage

I am seeing a bug in Podman. I posted an issue on github and the issue was closed because the version in the Ubuntu repo is not supported any more. Is there any timeline on when the repo will be updated to version v4? Here's the issue https://github.com/containers/podman/issues/17045 and here's the repo https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/podman

Manfred Hampl suggests this article as an answer to your question:

Possibilities for getting libpod version 4.*:

Create a bug report and request an SRU. this needs explanatory statements why that is required, including a test plan and some other items, see the SRU template.

Ubuntu currently is working on a version 4.3.1 package for Ubuntu lunar (to be published in April 2023). If you can wait for lunar, then you will probably get version 4.* when upgrading to Ubuntu 23.04.

If such version makes it into lunar, then another potential possibility is a backport of that version to jammy.

And of course everybody can create a PPA with such version.

And - sorry - I hit "send" too early before mentioning the last possibility:

You can create a bug report, mentioning what's wrong with the current version. Preferably you should add a link to the changes in the upstream source that solved the bug. This can help cherry-picking the bug fix and applying it to Ubuntu jammy's current version.

Possibly here. Remember to filter each PPA for your Ubuntu release
