Ubuntu Package error message

Asked by Kunal S. Boppanwar

I am unable to install most of the Packages or tools in my CLI, Like Net-Tools, Htop, etc. Some of the error messages are as below:

E: Unable to locate package net-tools

E: Unable to locate package Htop

Please if someone could guide me through the steps to fix this issue, I would really appreciate it.

Kind Regards
Kunal

Hello Kunal S. Boppanwar -

Those two packages are in the main repository -
That begs the question of the release that you are running;
show us:
lsb_release -a

And IF on a currently supported release please show:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

we see what

Hi There, Thank you for the acknowledgement, I think the problem is solved now.
If I have not done anything wrong then I guess the issue was that the check box from Other Software tab needs to be checked those are:
Software packaged by canonical for their partners.

After checking both these boxes; Then i did run sudo apt update and upgrade commands and then it worked.
Now all the Network commands are working fine.

Please correct me if I have done something wrong or missed something.

the release I am using is focal (20.04LTS).

Kind Regards
Kunal

Kunal S. Boppanwar - Hey hey

Good news that ^.

Enabling "canonical for their partners" will not hurt - needed if proprietary drivers and such are desired.

-all is well that ends well-
