When you last unplugged the phone, did you use the safe removal feature before physically unplugging it?

But you have used it in a Windows or Mac before using it in Ubuntu. Yes?

Do you use the safe remove feature in Windows before you unplug the device?

Why do you think Microsoft spend time and effort putting that feature into their operating system? For kicks?

Plug the phone into a Windows system and do whatever you need to do to get it accessible in Windows (I don't use Apple junk personally). Then before you unplug the phone use the icon on the system tray to tell Windows you are removing the phone. When you are told it is ok to do so, unplug the phone. You should do this with ALL USB storage.
