You could try installing the packages manually by downloading the libhid0 .deb file for lucid (and maybe libhid-dev and python-hid .deb files) and installing it with dpkg.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libhid/0.2.15+20060325-2.2ubuntu1/+build/888940 for i386
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libhid/0.2.15+20060325-2.2ubuntu1/+build/888937 for amd64

In some cases the manual installation of a package for another Ubuntu release works well, but in some cases that miserably fails due to unsatisfiable or dependencies. Try on your own risk.

As far as I can read from http://bugs.debian.org/496665 the resason for removing that package was that it was unmaintained, and I do not see any information that it were broken.

In any case there is the question what you need that package for.

Can you help with this problem?
