Will this package be updated to v1.7.x for Ubuntu 24.04?

The version in the ubuntu repo is pretty old and misses some features (like CONFIG_OPTION_FSYNC). Is it possible to update this package to 1.7?

Who knows it's not released yet. If you report a bug stating the bug and security fixes then it may be added to 23.10 and then be in 24.04

1.7.3 was released june 2021:

Various issues have been fixed in 1.6, 1.7.0, 1.7.1, 1.7.2, 1.7.3

You have to be aware that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian (to avoid double packaging work), and currently there is only version 1.5.0 in Debian, but there is already a bug report https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=869596 Maybe commenting on that bug report helps speeding up packaging of version 1.7.* in Debian, which could then be copied into Ubuntu's development version.
