Where does this ldtp stand compared to the freedesktop.org version?

The revision here (2.3.1) is different than the one on freedesktop.org (3.5.0) I have been playing with the LDTP from freedesktop on Ubuntu and would like to extend some functionality to be able to access the visibility, color and text properties for buttons and labels. I am in the process of delving into the various LDTP documentation (especially the "How to develop component functions for LDTP") but was noticing a lack of recent activity on the project on freedesktop but things seem a bit more active here? Can anyone give me a little insight on where I should be looking?
