not able to play mp3 file in kubuntu 12.04

i am using kubuntu 12.04 & i am not able to play mp3 & mp4 file in kubuntu player..
pop msg open's "decoder file require to play mp3 & mp4"
what suppose to do
please help me out.

mp3 is not an open format so may not be installed by default

Open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and enter the following command, you may need to reboot, not sure about that,

But once done mp3 should play

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

As the user is using kubuntu (There are subtle differences, hence the package name).

I stand corrected. Go with Andrew on this. I'm not a Kubuntu user

sudo apt-get install kubuntu-restricted-extras
