home folder and other applications open with? applications won't install from ubuntu software center while using the kde plasma desktop
I recently installed the KDE Plasma Desktop for Ubuntu 11.10 and my first problem that I ran into was that applications will not install from the Ubuntu Software Center.
Clicking on the install button does nothing. Installing apps from the terminal works, but you must know the actual name of the app for this to work, and the title name of the app isn't necessarily the correct name.
My second issue is that while trying to open simple things like my home folder brings up the question of "open file with?"
window and a list of applications.
This is also a problem when trying to open a USB or anything else for that matter.
I do not have this problem in Unity, the folder or file just opens without asking me what to open them with.
What gives?

Now i'm just fucking pissed. Plasma is broken. This goddamn thing has been out for damn near three years and nobody decided to fix it?
Try:
killall plasma; rm -r ~./kde/
Then reboot with
sudo reboot
You will get default plasma settings
