Man-Page

Asked by Flames_in_Paradise

Hi there,

it's actually a very nice idea to offer kins of a low profile switch. I were trying to get this work. It didnt, so What I in general do then is try to gather available information.... like "man kubuntu-low-fat-settings" error!

With the heep of bugs out I rather think tthis is the right place to settle this matter.

In my very interest ly a few Question:

Will this appear in the systemsettings like desktop/netbook?
What, if i'd like to turn it bake? Just uninstall or purge?
What get's done when it's installed? (I really don' like irrevocable experiments - not at all)
What if I consider I'm missing some runner functionalities? Like, sometimes I might need2use Bluetooth service.

From looking at the code I do have the impression that it would do some seroious changes in my system.

Should I rather fill a bug for the missing man page?

Best regards & thanks in advance

It just sets up a different session, just log off and select the usual session then log in.

1st of all: Thanks a lot for your pretty fast reply!

I thought this should be the proposed way "sessionwise". One of my likeables is to adust the system down 2 my needs, right from the start after installation of updates. Like removing Minefield (this should be banned&4bidden), slimming it to what'S necessary for my needs + adding other stuff. Then...

Deactiving unneeded services, switching off to much *blink* I always fancied the Idea of working with different profiles. e.g. bluetooth gets only activated when it's needed. So no fat/petite gras (fr)/little fat. Got pretty used to this with Compiz. Hoped I could do this wt activities -nope. Well, I unzipped the .deb, after I read the artcle that quote

Found a bit more info on: http://dohbuoy.wordpress.com/2011/09/23/slim-it-down/

Well, I think if it's in universe, it wouldn't be a big think to attach this manfile to /usr/share/docs/ following the debian rules. It's a little bit more than just a tiny 4-line-script people gather from forums. Explanations are matter of TRUST (yes, in capital letters) & education for us users, not to overspan the bow.

If I don't need to install "kubuntu-default-settings" to get back to a usable system, running kmail2 wt akonadi + get some xtra work setting up the boxes a 2nd time 2 my needs, it's o.k. with me.

Software and uncertainty don't go well together. After years, documentation is a bare value of software 4 me + I don't appreciate dissapointments on this behalf. e.g. Virtualbox doesn't get published before the manual is adopted to the new software situation. Like the idea of testing it with a new user.

I'l l mark this as solved after my experiences.

Best wishes
