upgrade ktorrent

Hi, i'd like to know how to upgrade ktorrent 2.2.1 (using kde 3) to ktorrent 3????

Be warned that KTorrent 3 needs the KDE 4 libraries (strangely the packages are named kdelibs5) so this may require a big download.

If you are running Hardy, try installing ktorrent-kde4 which is ktorrent version 3.0.1.
In Intrepid you get ktorrent 3.1.2 preinstalled.

My experience is that KDE 4 better works on Intrepid than on Hardy, but YMMV.

Also: KTorrent 3 provides a converter to convert in-progress KTorrent 2 torrents to KTorrent 3, but I've never tried it.

Hello Vini and others,
  I have been trying to install various versions of Hardy with some success, but am having difficulty with ktorrent-kde3 also.

  Thanks for the tip on ktorrent-kde4 libraries. I am trying that setup now and hope to get back with you all with some successful news.

  I have some questions about installing kde4(new ver.) with Debian, but will save that for another different question session. One problem/question at a time. Again, thanks for the tip- kde4.
