Scheduling downloads in KTorrent

Asked by kentuckylodge

I have the latest KTorrent and Ubuntu and am trying to schedule downloads of torrents for between 4am and 9am each day.
I have read what I can on this topic, which is not much, and what is confused me.

Is there a simple explanation for doing what I want to do.

thanks in advance.

Use the bandwidth scheduler.

If you set 0kb/s in both directions (or very low) and set another higher speed when you want downloads to run, you can use this to make ktorrent only download data when you say.

Thank you for the quick response. It did help a little. However, I have used utorrent in windows and have set up the scheduler to work from 4am to 9am without any further help from me. I am told that utorrent and ktorrent are supposed to be the same. I have set up the scheduler like you suggested but there does not appear to be any way that this can be activated, that I can see anyway.

They are not the same, thats why they are named differently. They may have similar functionality but they are not the same.

If you flick around the options and settings you should find the scheduler plugin and you can add the times from there. I don't have KDE on any of my systems as its just too bloated to be of any value, in my eyes. Explore the app and you will find it. You can also enable the webui and access your torrents remotely from any web enabled PC :)
