Very slow file transfer in kopete

Hi!
My problem is that the file trasnfer is very slow. My upload speed is 50 KB/sec, but the transfer is only about 5-6 KB/sec, and its not stable, usually goes down to 1-2 for a few seconds, and than again with 5-6 KB/sec...

I've got jabber-msn installed, from adept manager. (and there's also Gaim and aMSN installed, but i dont use them)

I sent the file to a contact whos was on windows, I've got kubuntu 6.10

First the transfer wasnt even starting, when my friend was using kopete on linux. after this i installed the mentioned jabber-msn, but yet I didn't tested the transfer kopete-to-kopete, with this jabber-msn update.

But this is not important, cause I've got only a few linux contacts, about 99% of my contacts use windows and MSN.

My account is an MSN account too. (@hotmail.com)

MSN is notoriously slow at file transfers, even on Windows. I, and most people I know on MSN (WIndows or Linux) suffer this problem.

Are you behind a firewall or router?

Either way you need to open up ports between 6891-6900 for both TCP and UDP transfers.

I can give you more specific help if you can give me your router model.
