Why does kodi crash starting 2nd upnp video playback?

Asked by Alex Clendenen

I have kodi from debian 17.6 Debian package version 2 installed on Ubuntu server and it is setup for upnp to my other kodi fire stick devices. I can successfully stream any video from my ubuntu desktop kodi through upnp to my 4K fire sticks kodi but as soon as I select a second video to playback kodi crashes on the Ubuntu machine. This does not happen if I host it on my windows machine so I don’t think it’s a problem with the kodi on the fire sticks. Is there or setting or something that might be causing this?

Why are you using a package for Debian on Ubuntu? There are specific versions of kodi for Ubuntu.

I just did sudo apt install kodi and that’s what was installed. Ill try Ubuntu specific builds and hopefully the issue will go away.
