Update of existing install in Ubuntu (Intrepid Ibex)

Asked by Drew Wilkin

I have Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex and KMyMoney v 0.9 installed via the Synaptic Package Manager. I remember that I was able to set up Pidgin (also a Sourceforge program) to automatically update by changing a few settings. Is that also possible for KMyMoney? How do I go about it?

If it's not possible, do i really have to go thru all the building steps to get an updated version? I'm not the most adept guy around. If it's possible to do it without a dozen steps, I'll do it.

Thanks all!

There is a PPA with an updated version, although I'm not sure if it's still working for Intrepid.
Are you familiar with installing from PPAs?

Karmic has an easier way of installing ppa's, just follow these instructions [1]

He said he is using Intrepid. If he were using Karmic, he can install the latest version straight from the repos.

I am not familiar with PPAs, but it still sounds like a manual process. I would prefer it to be automatic. My Pidgin updates automatically now. I'd like the same thing with KMyMoney.

I agree, it could be a bit of pain, but here's the solution: if you
once install a ppa it will update automatically, you don't have to
worry about updating it ever again. How about a video explaining this
process [1]. Follow the instructions and you can install the ppa's
from synaptic
