How to handle no longer used categories

Is there a way to make unused categories either hidden or inactive so they don't show up in the main list anymore? I have several categories that I no longer use, but don't want to delete completely. I would like it if I could make them inactive or something so they aren't cluttering up the list when I enter new transactions.

Not for categories.
You can hide unused categories on the budget, but not on the ledger and other areas.

Can you help with this problem?
