Link the brokerage account to its parent investment account

Asked by tosca

Hi,

I'm new to both KMyMoney and Ubuntu (coming from MS Money) and have been working with cash accounts for a couple of weeks.
Now, I'm trying to set up an investment account, with a related brokerage account. I would like to make the brokerage account "related" to the investment account, so they could appear as an only grouped asset, but they remain separated in the hierachy: I cannot move the brokerage account from the assets branch to put it under its parent investment.

Any way to achieve this?
Thanks for helping.

You cannot. The brokerage is always at the same level as the investment account, with the name equal to the investment account plus "(Brokerage)"

Thanks for your answer.

In the mean time I created an intermediate level dummy account, in which I put both the investment and the brokerage account, so that I can either display them individually, or the total for both.
And I found the trick so useful that I regrouped all my assets accounts in my own categories, in dummy intermediate accounts. Thus, I can have the total of all the accounts of the same category, even if they are in different institutions.
