Been using kMyMoney for some time. Take the item you wish to edit and highlight it using right mouse button. This will let you change almost everything you need - go into "Edit Schedule"

I just tried to change the schedule for a loan, but "Edit Schedule" doesn't allow me to change the date from the 24th to the 22nd of the month!!! This is a real problem because this will cause late payments!!!
