Is AqBanking enabled in the current Ubuntu (8.10) download of KMyMoney?

Asked by Fred Quist

It appears that online banking is included with the latest version of KMyMoney that I installed (using the Synaptic Package Manager) in Ubuntu 8.10. However, when attempting to set up my bank, I am advised that "This version of KMyMoney has not been compiled with support for online banking". Why not? What needs to be done to make online banking functional for those of us not familiar with the innards of Linux? Thanks for any help/advice you can provide.

Synaptic shows the installed version of KMyMoney2 as 0.9-2 and kmymoney2-plugin-aqbanking as 0.9.7beta-1

The stock package provided by Ubuntu is not configured for online banking.

You should install this package provided by one of our users:

https://edge.launchpad.net/~claydoh/+archive

Uninstall your current version before installing this one.

Thanks for your quick response.

Apparently I need more than just that package. I have downloaded and
installed it and now there is absolutely no mention of AqBanking or
Online Banking when I open KMyMoney. I uninstalled everything
associated with KMyMoney before installing this version. Should I
reinstall the AqBanking plugin? Anything else?

You should install AqBanking 3.8.x and the aqbanking kmymoney plugin too.

I have tried that (although I could not locate AqBanking 3.8.x in any
Ubuntu repositories) and when I start KMyMoney2 there is no menu option
for "Online Banking". However, if I install the non-CVS version from
the standard Ubuntu repositories, it includes the AqBanking plugin and
the "Online Banking" menu option is present. It appears that everything
is there for online banking until I try to set it up. I then get the
message "This version of KMyMoney has not been compiled with support for
online banking".

It seems very strange that the version that is supposedly compiled for
online banking does not have it available as a menu option but the
version that is not compiled for online banking has the "Online Banking"
in the menu.

Unfortunately, you have to install Gwenhywfar , AqBanking 3.8.x , and the Kmymoney plugin manually.

I can only ask you to trust me, but I have seen this issue a lot. You can check other questions here about the same subject.

Can you help with this problem?
